Influences might be Rolling Stones, Buddy Miles, Blue Cheer, MC5, Allman Brothers, Mountain, Faces, Humble Pie...sounding quite a bit like the more obscure and gritty acid rock outfits that surfaced in the wake of Hendrix in early 1970s as the 1960s butted against harsh realities of the new decade...'eavy music. -- winch
Howlin’ Sun is back with their highly anticipated 2nd album. The sound is familiar for fans of the first album, but this time it is darker and bigger. The dark and heavy title track «Maxime» - a homage to a legendary former venue in Bergen, sets the stage for the album. The album is a broad exploration of the rock genre going from southern rock to gritty garage, complimented by the indie intermission «Jayne» and the americana album closer «Bittersweet Morning Sun». The album was recorded live to tape in an old sardine packaging plant by the sea side in Bergen, by Robert Jønnnum from Underschön studio. The sound of the room, the feel of the band playing together in real time, and the vintage compressors, audio console and reel-to-reel tape machine gives «Maxime» an organic and warm presence. For fans of fuzz, acid rock, hard rock, and garage rock.
