Smells like fast-food french fries sizzling in the golden brown, with a big whiff of freedom, doing your own thing, dip your cream cone into the chocolate shine, maybe a bit of Quintron, Suicide, Zappa, Timmy Thomas, and of course 1950s Black music. Down on the corner with a synthesizer doing the Burger King doowop, but then swerving into the kitchen-sink synth punk. It goes where many have gone before, but it goes a bit further into its own thing. It seems to just do it, instead of trying to do it. It invites you in, then shoves you to the floor. From Cleveland! Emmett O.C's first ever solo endeavour "9 From The Warped Mind" is a culmination of isolationist griftings that are reminiscent of lost 80s demo-tapes and found reels that had been left to disintegrate in dark dingy basements.
Aggressive synth-punk tunes and lonesome organ-driven doo wop abound in this collection of tracks. Emmett uses a myriad of broken synthesizers, off-tempo drum machines, out-of-tune guitars and his warped mind to concoct an original listening experience. 9 from the Warped Mind is a soundtrack for a drifter wandering through a wayward, industrial shell...A world past its prime; a husk of society disintegrating before everyone's eyes. Dual release by Low Ambition Records (Australia) and Sweet Time Records (USA) respectively! Can't thank them both enough.
