From Yakima, Washington, the band starts off this set going to Detroit rockers Suzi Quatro and Bob Seger for material, hits from 1978, (I was going to say these two artists after they'd mellowed a bit and turned 30, but Suzi was still in here 20s), the band sounding like a bar band doing covers, the vocals moving between female and male taking lead, mostly the former, 1978 likely the recording date, as the songs come from that year or earlier, "Lover Goodbye" a song Tanya Tucker used to open her 1978 rock n roll record, "It's a Heartache" (a Bonnie Tyler hit from 1977), "Long Tall Texan" a much covered oldie...on side two offering the obligatory Eagle's song (Take It Easy) and too other covers sandwiched with a return to Detroit for material, this time going for oldies, opening the side with Jackie Wilson's 1967 "Higher and Higher" which probably has the most interesting arrangements on this set, the fast guitar and meandering piano sounding like the two players weren't too aware of each other, and closing the set with semi-interesting rock/hillbilly version of Martha and the Vandellas 1963 "Heatwave" (Holland-Dozier), the band sounding like a band at a small town wedding after everyone's drunk and the band is ready to cut loose. This is what you might expect, a mediocre set with some charm but unfortunately not as much charm as I had hoped. (I can't help wonder if these folks are still alive and kicking.) -- winch (green noise records)
