Radio Birdman fans take notice (and if you aren't acquainted, I can't recommend that Michigan/Australian band enough, Birdman always reminding me of a drive down a two-lane blacktop, explosive and reflective at the same time, blasting through daylight and twilight, shadow and light, the warmth of day and the chill of night, the city dressed in neon, the outskirts in the evening, a band on the lamb but never a sheep, urgently escaping and yet always part of world around them, musically and otherwise.  While an offspring of the earth they inhabited, Birdman was its own animal too, beyond a shadow of doubt, that animal clearly showing its colors here, shedding the youthful coat and aged with the decades but still tooling down that old road in search of sounds and experiences, dusting the others and moving along like a train on a track, like man on a mission rather than a man on the lamb, sometimes like a hawk in a canyon, winding the collective sounds and experiences down to a spot where an animal can breathe a bit, kick open the door and crack a can, stretch its limbs, howl out a sound and settle into an infectious sound of musicians between youth and elder status, confident with thoughts and dreams uncertain, no longer sounding like an animal being chased or chasing after the next meal, but still pushing the music like the accelerator on an old Mopar, kicking it out and stepping out, kicking off the boots and planting bare paws into the ground, the soil still warm from the sun in the chill of night, the chill of night remaining in the sand in the warmth of morning, sitting on railroad rock littered with beer cans and rat bones, press your palm to the steel rail and feel the vibration, feel the chill and jump up and run, Tek and his band still delivering the goods with honestly and urgency, and perhaps most importantly, still bringing it on with plenty of punch and loads of heart.  Green Noise is proud to offer this album as part of a launch of our new partnership with Wild Honey Records, this set reminding me a bit of hearing Reigning Sound for the first time after years of Oblivians, or like hearing Fogerty singing about Saturday night.  Every time I listen to this album I’m so happy I did. It sounded great the first time, and sounds great countless plays later, vital vinyl from Deniz Tek, the man from Michigan, the man from Australia, brought to you by Wild Honey Records, pressed in a beautiful Green Noise exclusive green-vinyl edition. -- winch (green noise records)

Wild Honey Records is proud to announce the reissue, for the first time in vinyl, Radio Birdman founder Deniz Tek’s groundbreaking LP “Take It To The Vertical”.

“Take It To The Vertical”, originally released by Redeye/Polydor Records Australia in 1992, was Deniz Tek’s first solo album. Recorded at historic SugarHill Studios in Houston, Texas, the album features Radio Birdman’s Chris Masuak on guitar and keyboards; and The Stooges’ Scott Asheton on drums. There are extensive liner notes, never before seen photos, and a bonus track that was not on the original release.

This amazing album has been long out of print, rare, and nearly impossible to find. It will now be available worldwide from Wild Honey as part two of a series of archival releases of Deniz Tek’s work.
