Natural Man Band – Living in a Chemical World With The Natural M*n Band – New LP

Regular price $ 20.00 $ 0.00

Punk with horns and synthesizers and crazy ass shouting vocals from boys and girls, the bottom bouncing to the top like a super ball from a gumball machine, rhythm hitting you over the head like a broom stick from a witch, trashy and crazy but focused like a pogo stick on the blacktop of your mind and spine, sounds like they were raised on Pylon, B52s and Xray Spex and a bunch of others all shredded together in a blender, in other words, fun and fantastic, Kansas City here we come, they got a lot of crazy little women, gotta get you this one. - winch (green noise)

Formed in 2016, began playing shows and releasing material in 2017, started as an expanded version of Ian Teeple's previous group Powers & Light. Members have also called the group an "arkestra" that will frequently add new members.

"The soundtrack to my dance-filled interstellar travel biopic has arrived. It was beamed down this week from Kansas City’s, Natural Man Band, the B-52’s of our egg punk generation. On their latest release, the group bring heart-palpitating riffs and dance-worthy melodies that you’ve come to expect from such a colorful punk scene. Living in a Chemical World… is listening to the product of someone being told to write whimsical music for an 8-bit Star Trek Sega Genesis game. The dual vocals, saxophone riffing outfit is giving America a polite ray gun sting of what to expect when they take their nuthouse-of-a-crew on tour through the galactic West Coast later this month. I constantly use the metaphor for driving on this site. With Natural Man Band, however, it’s like Captain Kirk gave the all clear to put The Enterprise on auto-pilot and party in the cafeteria. When we solve climate change but then discover that the Sun is ready to explode, this is the album we’ll put on to boogie down with. It’s the optimism of staring into oblivion. There’s that happy apathetic feeling throughout Natural Man Band works; it’s knowing that destruction is inevitable and we might as well dance to the beat of the ticking bomb. It’s hard not to shake to such a good beat, either. Continuing on in their tradition, everything on this album makes you convulse on the floor in a fit of fury. Turning down or shutting off is not an option when Natural Man Band is on. There is no escaping this chemical burn of brilliance. It’s the uplifting music we need right now. As the summer days slowly roll in, you’ll be wearing down your serotonin, bumping into old flames, and trying to not pay attention to the next election or the looming apocalypse. As you try to soak up the burning sun on the sandy beaches, you’ll need quick bumps of pick-me-ups in the dosage of uplifting tunes."  -- Turn on the Tube
