While amazingly few took much notice, for the ones who did, the Stooges created a dynamo at the turn of the decades...a standard...a dynamo to help charge everything that followed...a reminder of the raw power of music that folks like The Sonics, Link Wray, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, and Bo Diddley had established...if Australia hadn't taken notice of Michigan raw power (they probably had), they certainly had by the time Michigander/Australian band Radio Birdman appear...and if the world hadn't already taken notice of the raw power of Australian rock n roll (they probably had), they certainly had when bands like Radio Birdman and the Saints hit the stages and airwaves.   Since then, and definitely in the 21st century, Australia has delivered the goods, offering plenty of variations but maintaining that urgency and raw power (without taking themselves too seriously).  This continues with The Judges, who clearly look back to the raw power of the 1970s in places like Detroit, Cleveland, New York, and their own Australia) as they charge forward into the 2020s. -- winch

-- winch
