Costa, Don – Don Costa's Instrumental Versions Of Simon And Garfunkel - Used LP
VG/VG (Really nice for a 1968 LP, some minor crackle.)
While the jacket suggests acoustic guitar versions (at least to someone like me who didn't know Costa except his work with Sinatra...he's a conductor, arranger, producer & guitarist, an Italian from Boston, would've turned 100 this month, but died rather young), this is full-fledged lounge, full of horns and strings (but not a too huge group to ruin everything), no surprises but some variety, and not all instrumental as the title claims, alternating between instrumental and vocal cuts, one of the former followed by one of the latter, the latter featuring male and female vocalists and fitting in with the more loungey side of sunshine pop sound...so bad. I should hate this shit, but I love it. And I feel like I'm continuing a tradition started by Mister Ryder GREEN noise himself, who along with punk and garage, had a cool lounge selection. -- winch
