Rich Crook (from Lost Sounds) and the gang, with a classic Tennessee sound, garage-rock power pop...elements of punk, acid rock, and hillbilly...pieces of the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, The Box Tops, Neil Young and the Byrds (and other listeners more knowledgeable about country & western than I could probably point out earlier sources who helped inspire those artists)...a bit like some of the post-Oblivians output of fellow Memphian Greg Cartwright...but not really sounding like any of those comparisons.  So many great sounds came out of Memphis so we sometimes miss the lesser knowns and worthwhile finds, like the work of Rich Crook for example.  -- winch
