Total Punk Records Presents:CHERRY CHEEKS –  CCLPIIWhile this album sounds more like a full-band effort than their first album, probably because it is, this still sounds like what you've come to expect from these whack jobs, roller-rink Spudnik punk rock, stinky sweat bands too tight on wrists and moptops, popcorn popping on the linoleum counter, Icee machine grinding and sweating and churning out globs of syruped purple goo, sweaty sneakers and stinky sweat socks crammed in AkroBins Plastic Injection-mold storage bins along the wall, crammed together claustrophobic and manic, everyone change directions, a la carte punk rock served on a fiberglass tray, someone is playing PONG in the corner, maybe some Hot Butter, Pere Ubu, Moroder, Ramones and Modern Lovers playing over the crackly intercom speaker but it's hard to make out the sounds over the clamor, some junior-high nurds playing ping-pong in the other corner, waiting their turns and nodding their heads like Verda and Alpha 12 robots, Will and Penny Robinson waiting for the school lunch bell to go off so they can pack their Space 1999 lunchboxes and march their downturned faces back to 4th period humming and mumbling crush kill destroy, PONG / ping-pong punk that only a town like Portland would breed because they are all batty from 87 months of rain (this band also apparently features transports from Florida and that explains everything…)...like the debut, when it comes down to it, it's just a bunch of bulldookie punk-rock, in other words nonstop great junk through both sides, basement synth punk with the basses loaded, spring-loaded, ripped up and ripped down, leave it to Total Punk to deliver the goods! -- winch

"Cherry Cheeks are back with the follow up to their highly praised debut LP. Now a full band based out of Portland, OR with a few successful tours under their belt and a strongly defined sound CCLPII picks up where last year's CHERRY RADIO EP left off. The songs are more fleshed out, the production crisper, and the hooks are gigantic with layers of synths and electronic bleeps and blurps peppered throughout. The manic energy is still front and center but the poppier elements hinted at with songs like 'Go Outside' and'Two Bugs' on their debut are given much greater focus on the album's hit heavy A-side. On the flip the album takes a darker and more sinister turn. The synths are more heavily featured the vocals have more bite and the punk muscle fully flexed. Cherry Cheeks prove they've got some staying power and I'm excited to see what they have in store for CCLPIII. Catchy, razor sharp, and 100% TOTAL PUNK."
