Black Valley Moon – Spectral Melodies Vol. 1 [COLOR VINYL] – New 7"

Regular price $ 8.50 $ 0.00

unlike their debut 7" in 2020 (which was a mix of instrumental and vocal cuts), this one is all instrumental, kick-ass surf rock featuring Down By Law guitarist Sam Williams and drummer Dave Kamrath, clearly coming from the 1960s but mixing up the influences and adding their own flavors, the first two cuts having titles that let you know they are stretching the surf across western deserts and spooky houses but maintaining the signature surf sound of the early 1960s, clearly adding some spaghetti western to the opener, recalling a punk band doing Billy Strange doing Morricone, the second cut going to a seance but clearly this ghost is moving out of the house and grabbing his stick and hitting the waves, the flipside also maintaining these surf rock sounds but clearly adding some shake and rhythms from other places that I can't quite place, likely bits of flavors from both punk and soundtracks of old movies from the 1960s (which both of course had their own influences that might have also influenced this band), all of it drenched in surf reverb and green-room inspired rhythms, but also shooting from the tube and charging forward on some of their own sounds and signatures, "Black Valley Moon is (currently) an instrumental trio influenced by sounds of the past and present. Surf, vintage pop, rock, garage, spaghetti westerns and punk all find their way into our music."  Random color vinyl.
