While listeners often hear how this influenced bands and music that followed them, I hear a bridge between 1960s bands like Rotary Connection, pieces of Pink Floyd, Love and Electric Ladyland-era Hendrix through 1970s' with the more reflective elements of outfits such as Black Merda, Death, the Isley Brothers, Robin Trower, Roxy Music, and Timmy Thomas, and the more reflective progressive rock and the more trippy soul music of 1970s--from the US, the UK, Africa and the West Indies--and squeezed through Prince and the neo-psychedelic, post-punk and death rock in the 1980s, a bridge from all that to many types of music that followed A.R. Kane. -- winch
"The name derived from "A" in Alex (Ayuli) and the "R" in Rudi (Tambala), the band's core duo. A.R. Kane ushered in two significant musical movements in England: "sampladelic" dance and house music, where it remains an integral part of rave culture and its outgrowths. They also exerted a profound sonic influence on the legion of trippy Shoegaze guitar bands that would emerge a few years later in the UK."
