1962 Brazil/USA meeting, recorded late 1962, released early summer 1963.  Cool lounge bossa nova.  3 percussionists, two guitars, horns, cool organ. It's funny when I think of how it seems--at least to me--brazilian bossa nova was a bit less serious (and maybe more pop) than american jazz but much more serious than american lounge, and how it first was handled rather seriously in the united states when fused with jazz, and how quickly it often headed into lounge territory, which really maybe is not so surprising because I'm sure fans of lounge love the early albums of jazz/bossa nova albums because no matter how serious they took themselves, it was maybe always headed toward lounge. This 1963 album is a good example of all that, clearly lounge in my opinion, sounding all quite planned, but the flourishes likely also offer some improvisation into the conversations. If you dig this kind of thing, or just need some background music for your fondu party, this is pretty enjoyable.
