Sweet Reaper - Still Nothing [IMPORT] – New LP

Regular price $ 25.00 $ 0.00
SWEET REAPER’s Still Nothing is their fourth LP, and this Ventura three-piece continues to operate in the same waters as the Denton, Texas power pop/punk axis—think MIND SPIDERS, MARKED MEN, RADIOACTIVITY—so it tracks that Jeff Burke mastered the album. But these beach rats aren’t coasting on the comparison. They bring a distinctly Southern Californian sweetness to the formula, at times layering some tight vocal harmonies over the buzz and drive, with tracks like “Zero Candles” and “Meemees” adding a ’60s pop warmth. Seth Pettersen’s vocals sit in a familiar upper register, but at times he adds a Billie Joe Armstrong-esque nasal whine. Lyrically, the album lives in a state of exhaustion without surrender: relationships crumbling, systems failing, but still just enough gas in the tank to keep moving. This is fucking good! Eleven songs and not a dud in the bunch.

SWEET REAPER return with Still Nothing, their long-awaited new album featuring eleven ultra-catchy punk rock songs from California’s favorite skeleton crew. Blending X-ray power pop, restless don’t-wanna-grow-up energy, and classic RAMONES-style drive with moody melodic turns, Still Nothing delivers sharp, addictive hooks that stick fast and don’t let go. Drawing from the lineage of the DICKIES and the ZEROS while nodding to modern standouts like RADIOACTIVITY, BAD NERVES, SPITS, and the LILLINGTONS, SWEET REAPER specialize in lean, melodic punk elevated by Seth’s unmistakable vocal presence. The result is a record that feels immediate, timeless, and relentlessly replayable.  The album was recorded by K. Tupper and J. Jerome, handled with full analog care, lacquer-cut, and mastered by Jeff Burke (MARKED MEN, RADIOACTIVITY, LOST BALLOONS). Label trivia: SWEET REAPER now hold the record for most releases on ALIEN SNATCH!, cementing their status as true believers and longtime label favorites.
