Stef + The SLEEVEEN S – Give My Regards To The Dancing Girls – New 7"

Regular price $ 7.00 $ 0.00

another essential listen from Sweet Time Records, sounding like it coulda come from Boston 1974 or Dublin 1978, but apparently this comes from where all the music comes, down in the Southern states of the United States, this one recorded in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee (just east of Nashville), taking sounds of folks like Little Richard, Al Perkins, and Eddie Cochran and pulling them through the innards of some of the more important rock idols of the 1970s, the vocals by Stef Murphy helping to bring this through his homeland Ireland, the rest of the band likely from Tennessee, Ryan Sweeney from Nashville's Sweet Time and Eli Steele from maybe Memphis, as he played on a Sweet Knives record... (And any band who puts Marine/boxer/actor/living legend Burt Young on their sleeve deserves props...so nice to see people recognize legends while they are living and kicking instead of after they kick the bucket) and so nice to hear a band using the 7" format so kindly to bring us two good songs that deserve to be isolated on this format, if you get the drift of what I mean, and so nice to hear some shout outs for hope in this pandora box of a world "as we dance this mess around...never lose your sweetness in the face of hate...we'll be dancing on the factory floor...we'll have the sweetest time and the kids will rock n roll forever!" Amen. -- winch
