Little Annie – Short and Sweet [2xLP CLEAR vinyl IMPORT] – New LP
NYC-born artist and chanteuse, Annie caught Frank Zappa's eye at CBGBs, recorded with Crass as Annie Anxiety, and has gone on to work with Coil, Current 93, Swans, Baby Dee, and many others, included her much-loved collaborations with English dub producer Adrian Sherwood. Annie once in fact lived in a shed at the bottom of Adrian's garden.
A deluxe, expanded reissue of this 1992 much-loved outlier in the On-U catalogue. Little Annie Bandez aka Annie Anxiety, has worked with everyone from Coil to Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Crass to Marc Almond, Swans to Bim Sherman. On this album she collaborates with Doug Wimbish and Skip McDonald from Tackhead, with Adrian Sherwood at the controls, to concoct an album of dub-inflected dance pop, underpinned by breakbeat shuffle and basslines to make you move. The super catchy “I Think Of You” set domestic drudgery to a sensual R&B swing, and has become a staple in the boxes of more adventurous DJs. Just one of a number of jewels in this collection, which pairs the original album with bonus tracks taken from the companion Short, Sweet and Dread release, including two tracks never before released on vinyl, plus rare photos and a liner note interview with Annie telling the story of the album in her own words.
