Elektriske Plader / Rusted Teeth Records
If you haven’t checked in on the state of punk in Denmark’s capital city since the days of Kick N’ Punch and Hjernespind, this comp has been conveniently compiled with an attentive ear for your listening pleasure. Refreshingly diverse, the fifteen bands featured on this record paint the picture of a scene filthy rich in wild and unique-sounding bands. There really is a new favorite band for everyone on this record, whether you lean towards gothy, ethereal sounds or gruff gutter growls or upbeat, peppy punk. But if you’re just a fan of underground music done well, you’ll enjoy this thing start to finish, and some of these bands are giving those modern classics from the 2000s a run for their money. If the impetus for the comp was to bring attention to a generation of bands that had been overlooked and share their high quality output, it was done so right. So right. –Daryl (Razorcake)

What a beautifully packaged labor of love this record is...well-written essays from notable scene participants make this a must have for punk enthusiasts. The essays speak of a widely diverse scene and this record does a fair job in its portrait of such. Besides NIGHT FEVER, I can’t say I’m very familiar with the artists on this comp but it’s very diverse from the beautiful darkwave of MOTH to the slam and dance of MOTORSAV. From the ADVERTS-style melodic 77 punk of BIG MESS to the lush feminine synth-punk of KOLD FRONT, you get a nice mental photograph of a diverse and welcoming scene. My personal favorites are the freight train to the face core of NIGHT FEVER, the ENO-esque robotic jams of CHAINSAW EATERS, the URINALS-style art-punk of EVEN DWARVES, the D-beat thrash of DEATH TOKEN, ’80s Brazil raw punk of JUNTA, and the refreshing post-punk of MELTING WALKMEN. You can just feel the sticky-floored, smoked-filled rooms ripe with the sour stench of old Dutch lager. I say dive on in.--Maximum Rock n Roll
Essential punk comp, ripping "punk rock manifesto," gatefold scene report, different bands exploring different variations on punk, a decade of cuts (2009-2019,) all the cuts distinctively Denmark, held together with community, sincerity, urgency, and darkness, all the cuts wrapped in shadows that harks back to influences of various punk, death rock, synth punk, and HC from the late 1970s and early 1980s, but armed with a flint spark and a bucket of petrol ready to burn it all down and light the grins on the dark cobblestone if only for a moment, standing ready with the fist-pumping urge to rip free and be heard. -- winch
