“Systems built on hate always fail"–Divide and Dissolve

Divide and Dissolve’s new album Systemic examines the systems that intrinsically bind us and calls for a system that facilitates life for everyone. Their dense sound is overwhelmingly heavy; a dissonant pounding of percussion, guitars, piano, synths and saxophone, interwoven with passages of orchestral beauty that give a feeling of respite that creates an encompassing experience for even a casual listener. It’s a message that fits with the band’s core intention: to make music that honours their ancestors and Indigenous land, to oppose white supremacy, and to work towards a future of Black and Indigenous liberation. Like its predecessor Gas Lit, Systemic was produced by Ruban Neilson of Unknown Mortal Orchestra. You can feel the deep intention in Divide and Dissolve’s music. released June 30, 2023 PRODUCED BY RUBAN NIELSON RECORDED AND MIXED BY NICHOLAS WILBUR RECORDED AT ANACORTES UNKNOWN RECORDING STUDIO MASTERED BY JAMES TREVASCUS FRONT ALBUM ARTWORK BY RUBAN NIELSON BACK ALBUM ARTWORK BY MALA INSERT PHOTOS BY RUBAN NIELSON DESIGN BY CHRIS REEDER license

Divide and Dissolve members Takiaya Reed (saxophone, guitar, live effects/ (Black & Tsalagi [Cherokee]) and Sylvie Nehill (drums, live effects/ (Māori) create instrumental music that is both heavy and beautiful, classically influenced yet thrillingly contemporary, and powerfully expressive and communicative.

It has the ability to speak without words, and utilises frequencies to interact with the naturally occurring resonance.
