NEW. JACKPOT RECORDS. This is not the new 2023 pressing; instead this is the early pressing that I found in a box. 1970.  Yamhill rocks!  If you don't know about Yamhill, you are not alone, but I lived out that way when I first moved to Oregon, and I can tell you that it's a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, at the edge of the Willamette Valley where the coastal mountains rise up in the near distance, a rain-soaked setting where I'm sure they get a lot more rain there than in Puddletown PDX.
Sort of a NW garage version of the Byrds, Love or the Moody Blues...to be fair, Moody Blues at their very best...if you like both Simon & Garfunkel and Iron Butterfly this might be your bag...the fuzz guitar and sound FX helping make it appealing to fans of psychedelic...rain-soaked sadness so much a part of the Pacific Northwest...jangly for a few cuts coming somewhere between "Solitary Man" and "Season of the Witch" and other songs at the edge of my mind...but mostly drenched in organ, thick as a rain-soaked blanket over the shoulder of a wandering soul who looks homeward but knows he can never go there, looks at the pretty girl but knows he'll never know her, looks at the hill on the house but knows he could never live there, traipsing out of the 1960s without a place to go, hoping someday a label like Jackpot will take notice and reissue his songs of melancholy...some may see this as why Sabbath and the Stooges had to happen....while fans of psychedelic will likely find this essential listening.

"Fuzz guitar, minor-chord organ dirges, tender vocals and monumental bass are the calling cards of this private press gem. Maybe it's all the rain, but like their Northwest counterparts, the New Tweedy Brothers and the Sonics, The New Dawn helped to establish a regional musical perspective that is hauntingly addictive.  Initially released in July of 1970, five hundred copies were pressed, but it's estimated that only around 200 may still exist.  After being highly sought after by collectors, we are proud to release this definitive reissue which was produced in close collaboration with Dan Bazzy, singer, songwriter, and founder of The New Dawn."
