Property of the Lost Records (UK)
GREEN NOISE USA EXCLUSIVE!!! Green Noise is proud to bring these Property of the Lost releases to the states, especially ones like this outstanding outing from X Ray Cat Trio, barroom rock n rollers from Leeds, UK with a wonderful mix of instrumental and vocal rockers, sort of recalling the unforgettable albums by bands like Brinsley Schwarz and Reigning Sound, or at least like them using the music of the early years of rock n roll to create something fresh, going back a bit earlier than most bands for inspiration, specifically the late 1950s and early 1960s in places like Memphis, Atlanta, Kansas City, Texas, NYC, and Detroit, sounding inspired by the music of legends like Hank Ballard, the Belmonts, The Ventures, Santo & Johnny, the Tornadoes, Link Wray, Del Shannon, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Buddy Holly. While bands often seem influenced by some of those artists, rarely have I heard a band with a sound that seems influenced by such a diverse bunch of artists from this era. Brilliant. Highly recommended listen. -- winch

"Here we go guys, here we go, a rock and bloody roll record unleashed by the trio and embellished by their sax and pedal steel. It’s a full on in your chops 10 track stomper of an album which has its running gears in punk rock emblazoned with anything that makes it bounce even better. This is once again a genre mangling exercise of the highest order, rock n roll is not just alive and kicking but absolutely bouncing out of its skin. This is one of the best contemporary albums I have had the pleasure of reviewing in a long time." -- Simon Nott, UK Rock & Roll Magazine

Sunday 1st October 2023. 4 o’ clock in the afternoon and there’s a sense of expectation at The Jenny Lind, as three lads from West Yorkshire prepare to launch into 45 minutes of Garage rockabilly, psych surf and Gretsch soaked doo wop. El Nico (guitar / vocals), Howling Ric (drums) and Adam Richards (bass) AKA the X RAY CAT TRIO are here to round off the annual Property of the Lost weekender with a special afternoon session. There’s frenetic energy throughout, with the crowd lapping up every morsal thrown at them. The band offer a sublime pick + mix from a 15 year catalogue with no pause for breath ‘bar some good old fashioned banter. It’s all bones and muscle with no gristle filler here. For me, nothing beats a great live album, and this recording has it all. Perfectly capturing three musicians at the top of their game playing to a truly appreciative audience. It got us thinking… “There really should be more…” So, this became a collaboration effort with The Jenny Lind with its own Jenny catalogue number, paving the way for more live sessions to be immortalised in the album format. The future is unwritten, But the seeds have been sewn.
