Speaking of teevee, the other day my main squeeze was chain-smoking episodes of Caroline in the City, and on the way to the bathroom, I caught a glimpse of Caroline, and I shouted, hey I think that's Marty McFly's mom! And then I started reminiscing about back to the past after Back to the Future came out and how people would call me Marty McFly so long ago (it was almost as fun as when that teevee show Martin was on and all the Black girls at work would shout MARRRR-TIN when I walked by), and I was thinking how I wish people would still call me Marty McFly once in a while (once I think one of them Mean Jeans called me Party Marty McFly but even that was about 2 decades ago), but then things started getting really weird, one of those things where I wonder if life really is but a dream: this is a true story: that same day, I go out to get the mail as my mail carrier is pulling up, and out of the blue he yells "HEY MARTY McFLY!" and then later that same day, I look at my phone and Rad Max has messaged me about their new album called Party McFly!!! What the shit is going on? I'll tell you what, these are some PDX goofballs, earthbound space cadets launching a rocket ship that lands right on the davenport in the rec room with a tin pan of Jiffy Pop, a rented VCR machine, and a lap full of VHS tapes... the album focusing on songs about cheap flicks and teevee shows...Twin Pines and The Goonies to name a few...lots of other story songs that are probably based on 1980s movies and/or maybe based on 1980s flicks that were never made...the party has gone to h-e-double hockey sticks!!! (but it's fun)...a radio that picks up radio stations from extraterrestrials (ET) sources (sign me up for that service!). And as added bonus, at least one song based on apparel, specifically those silly cheap sunglasses called "Shutter Shades," and who needs another song about heartbreak, when Rad Max gives us a song all about the joys of that place just down the street and right on the corner--the convenience store!!! Finally, they take us to doomsday, only to end the journey with the saving grace of that device we cling to so tightly: the teevee remote control! -- Party Marty Winch
