Tomaro, Rob – Slime City Soundtrack – New LP

Regular price $ 22.00 $ 0.00

1988 soundtrack, a mix of the 1980s and older sounds, fusing the 1980s horror/sci-fi atmospheric synth soundscapes with sounds from the late 1950s and early 1960s (surf-rock guitars...1950s style TV jazz from gumshoe/crime shows ...)...one review says "punk rock guitars" but he must be talking about the surf-rock elements because the other guitars that show up late in the set sound far from punk, more like Pink Floyd 1980s/jazz fusion/Joe Satriani/Jimmy Page's Death Wish 2 soundtrack...fortunately those are quickly folded into the soundscapes and the more interesting fusion takes over again.  While it's clearly part of the electronic soundtracks of the 1980s, it owes much to the TV jazz of 1950s and space version of both surf rock and electronic music of the space-age era of the early 1960s.  -- winch
