First repress, 2024 pressing of 2008 album.

After an amazing run of Dead Moon, from the 1980s and into the 21st century, one of the greatest runs in the history of music, Fred and Toody took a brief break from the action (but while I don’t always get my dates right, I think I recall some performances during that time, maybe a Range Rats reunion show), but obviously Fred and Toody couldn’t stop the passion and creativity boiling inside—you can’t stop a freight train with just a stone, or even a parked truck—and returned with a vengeance with this album, continuing with the integrity we had come to know so well with Fred and Toody with their decision to preserve the Dead Moon moniker for the records they made with Andrew Loomis—but continuing and charging forward with the soulful devastation.  Wise folks pointed out that you don't need to compare this to Dead Moon, but for me, that ain't so easy to do, and like everything Fred did, it’s easy to see this as part of something cemented with Dead Moon (but going all the way back to Fred Cole in the 1960s), and other than the drumming, much of this could easily be mistaken as Dead Moon songs, but this also offers sounds and songs that are something else, Toody's bass playing continuing to evolve into a force to be reckoned with, the inclusion of Kelly Halliburton likely helping power the sounds into new directions, Fred offering songs and guitar sounds to announce the arrival of a new band.  Essential recordings. — winch
