Nun-Plus – Ljubimo / Let Us Love – Used LP
vinyl: VG (mild wear)

Whoa...here's one for fans of oddball folkie sunshiny pop..."One Sunday afternoon five Catholic Sisters from Oregon got together...[with] a group of musicians, including Sammy Amato and Cookie and Jeannie Rey Routtu...the five nuns and the Routtu sisters became...NUN-PLUS...Lyrics and Music by Sr. Marianne Misetich...Arranged by Jeannie Rey Routtu...Recorded By the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary...Produced by Amato Records at Seattle West "...a gem of a platter from the early 70s...often beautiful with an almost late-1950s' Fleetwoods/Chordettes dreamy quality...and plenty of pleasant surprises, Spanish and electric guitars and special effects...if the first side seems to drag a bit, the spoken word passage of the last song is priceless...and the flip side offers loads to enjoy...wide eyed as a child...worldly and aware...innocent as a ponytail...sugar and spice...delicious scoops of vanilla ice cream with plenty of whipped cream and sprinkles and a cherry on top...and sometimes pretty fetching for a group of nuns, nuns plus...."the PLUS. Cookie and Jeannie began their musical education in grade school with the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary...masters of piano, marimba, guitar, mandolin, string bass, drums, etc. With the loving encouragement of their Mexican mother and Finnish father...performed...as the Rey Sisters..."

"Something Cookie and Jeannie Ray Routto - The PLUS: Cookie and Jeannie began their musical eduction in grade school with Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and continued in their schools through high school and college. After graducation the girls studied in Germany and now hold two masters degrees in music. They are proficient in all types of dance and song, as well as masters of the piano, marimba, guitar, mandolin, string bass, drums, etc. With the loving encouragement of their Mexican mother and Finnish father, they have performed professionally throughout the Pacific Northwest and Europe as the Rey Sisters.
"When Cookie and Jeannie discovered the music and lyrics of Sister Marianne Misetic, they found "a real and contemporary approach to the celebration of life". It was indeed a treat for the girls to direct their musical activities from lounge to that of the convent!
"THE NON-PLUS share with you their celebration of life in this Croatian-titled album LJUBIMO ("let us love")."
