Recorded 1969.

While, I don't usually even bother listening to Chick Corea--they might be good but I assumed they probably weren't my bag, but considering this was recorded in 1969, featured some great players and was generally hated or disregarded but jazz critics, I decided to give it a spin...frantic free-for-all, feeding off each other and working into a frenzy...side two especially noisy and frantic, with what sounds like a discordant electric guitar but I suppose could be electric piano.   Since this was a Sonny Lester/Groove Merchant, I was hoping for some late 60s groove, and while Side One had too much acoustic piano for my tastes, the flipside will surely grab your attention (and/or annoy the hell out of you) with the band shaking the shackles and chasing down something as elusive as freedom in the age of electric Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix. -- winch
